This weekend, my family drove over to Memphis to help my aunt move into her new house. Well, my brothers helped move her stuff; I supervised. However, let me just say that watching someone move heavy furniture is just as exhausting as far as I'm concerned. I never put much thought into how much stuff it takes to fill a three bedroom house, especially for a single woman moving from a one bedroom apartment. So to better fill the empty spaces and rooms, off we went to the local Salvation Army thrift store.
Whenever I visit a thrift shop, my plan for the most effective floor coverage is the same: check for American Girl first, bags second, shoes third, and clothing last. Unfortunately I discovered an almost non-existent toy section, so I moved on to bags. Nothing interesting, and same in the shoes and clothing sections. Yikes, how disappointing! So I stuck by my mom and my aunt who were looking through furniture, and it looked like they were having better luck finding stuff.
My aunt picked out this AMAZING cedar chest that she saw the last time she was there, thankfully it was still there. I didn't think of taking any pictures, but it looked a lot like the Addy's trunk.
The game was $3.99, and it came with everything still in the box except for the character name tags, which is not a big deal at all. I've wanted this party kit since I first saw it in the American Girl catalog. Of course, my family was not going to spend all of that money on a party kit for only eight guests. So now that I have it, I have it in my mind to make my cousins, who are all over the age of 16, all dress in Victorian era clothing to attend. I'm in a little over my head as there is no way that my family will participate in wearing Victorian attire and acting in the mystery play, so I'll just keep it in my chest for my future daughter. Hey, no shame in my game.
I know that I need to step up my game when it comes to being consistent with my blogs. My goal is to post on Mondays and Fridays; the perfect way to begin and end the week. I'm also working right now on topic ideas for my YouTube channel that will focus on my hobbies, just like this blog. I have so many ideas, I won't have any writer's or producer's block for a long time! I had a lot of time to brainstorm as I was battling being under and over the weather (yes, I said both under and over...see here for more details).
